China's apparel exports decline 20% in Jan-Feb 2020

Apparel and accessories exports from declined by 20 per cent year-on-year to $16 billion in the first two months of the current calendar year, according to data from the country's ministry of industry and information technology (MIIT). Operating revenue of clothing industry decreased by 28.14 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year.

The total operating revenue of large apparel enterprises having annual operating revenue of 20 million yuan (approx. $2.8 million) stood at 148.8 billion yuan, the MIIT data showed. Profits of these enterprises decreased 42.14 per cent to 5.5 billion yuan compared to the corresponding months of 2019.

Output of these enterprises also dipped 36.61 per cent during January-February 2020 to 2.5 billion pieces.
