Turkey apparel exports up 1.54% in Jan-December 2019

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 1.54 per cent in 2019, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to December 2019, Turkey exported apparel worth $15.539 billion, compared to exports of $15.303 billion clocked during the year 2018, the data showed.

Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $9.089 billion during the year, registering a decrease of 0.5 per cent from $9.041 billion earned during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $6.450 billion, up 3 per cent from $6.262 billion exports made in the same period of 2018.

Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 11.8 per cent to $2.531 billion during the period under review.
