Short Lead-time: The Key factor for Ready-made Garment Industry of Bangladesh

Abstract
Recent credit crunch in the world market, ready-made
garment (RMG) in Bangladesh has faced stiff competition to sustain its export
trend in the apparel market. In global apparels market, international buyers
will place an order where price and lead time is the major considerations by
consumers when buying clothes. In regard to quality Bangladeshi garment
measures as low to medium category where they're not much option left to face
the MFA and credit crunch consequence. But still major of the key areas left
for Bangladesh are price competitiveness, short lead-time. For Bangladesh, lead-time is fast emerging as a serious bottleneck. This paper will briefly
discuss present condition of garment industry, define lead time, why lead time
get priorities, process of short lead time and how central bonded house influence
on price competitiveness.
