At a Preview hosted by the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai yesterday, Parvathy Omnakuttam (seen recently in Pizza) showcased a stunning a black silk gown with a woven yoke, from this new collection by Shruti Sancheti

Her collection titled Strands Of Silk is an ode to the glorious and sumptuous fiber and its connotation, ie luxury, festivity and extravagance. Silk is the textile of celebration and this mood is beautifully reflected in each of Shrutis designs. The base fabric of the collection comprises of rich ,magnificent Benarasi woven fabric in vibrant colors, woven intricately with zari along with exquisite Pochampali, a distinguished complex weave to give the collection a pan Indian flavor ,along with these raw silk, cotton silk, woven silk, makhmaal have been used as variants to add more character to this rich line, deeply rooted in heritage.

The color palette is vibrant and festive, comprising of warm colors like crimson, vermillion, cherry, carmine, wine, aubergine, burnt orange, saffron, alphanso, fuschia, indigo blue. Rich, intricate hand embroidery in form of zardozi, cutwork, resham, and kasab have been used to impart a regal feel.

The silhouettes are luxurious, voluminous yet has construction and structure ,Sharara jumpsuits ,Half crop half chuga jacket, pallazo pants, circular and pleated anarkali's along with various constructed jackets and blouses are the few key points of the collection. Fine detailing like tucks, ribs, pleating along with customized wrought iron hangings and buttons and detachable hand embroidered jewellery give the collection a contemporary twist with an Indian soul.
