C&A and C&A Foundation have been declared the winners of the 2018 Employee Engagement Awards in the category Social Responsibility. The Employee Engagement Awards are the first and only awards which honour organisations putting workforce engagement at the core of business strategy. C&A and C&A Foundation were selected for their Inspiring World Campaign.

The campaign led to an unprecedented engagement rate of 65 per cent of C&A employees globally (or 32,615 employees) and to donations of 1 million Euros to organisations working towards a better world. The charities chosen focus on creating a positive impact on the environment or strengthening local communities by improving the lives of people working in the local textile industry.

“Our joint success is clearly a testament to the power of the partnership between C&A and C&A Foundation and the desire of our C&A colleagues to come together to create a better world,” said Jeffrey Hogue, C&A’s chief sustainability officer and C&A Foundation board member.

“We thank our colleagues from both C&A and C&A Foundation across Brazil, Mexico, China and Europe who, through their tireless commitment and passion, were able to inspire over 30,000 of us to reflect on how we each can contribute to living more sustainable lives,” said Leslie Johnston, executive director of C&A Foundation.

EE Awards founder and CEO Matt Manners said: “This year the entries really have proven the transformational value that focusing on the employee experience can deliver. One of our main themes of the evening was the importance of diversity to a business. Diversity of thought can provide organisations with a real competitive advantage if they truly embrace it. In a world that seems to get more divided by the day, workplaces that create a true sense of community will transform the employee experience and the bottom line.”

This year’s winners span manufacturing, banking, IT, pharmaceuticals, retail, the UK’s NHS, service companies, transport and the sporting world. (SV)
