Texvalley is a dedicated textile zone at Gangapuram in Erode district of Tamil Nadu. Set up with support from the ministry of textiles, Government of India, it provides security and certainty that a trader would need to look ahead. As the largest textile single point trade centre, it is expected to attract the highest number of buyers.
“The MoU with Fibre2Fashion will take Texvalley to large textile fraternity across the country,” says Texvalley project management consultant R Jeyamohan.
“Texvalley is an integrated wholesale textile trading centre which supports the wholesale business activities in Erode. Fibre2Fashion has been a service provider for textile trading for the past 16 years. So, it is natural for us to get associated and work together for the benefit of the textile industry and help Texvalley to live up to the dream of Digital India,” explains Chahat Shah, head-new initiatives, Fibre2Fashion.
The MoU was signed during a ceremony to mark the handing over of keys to 225 leading wholesalers who booked showrooms in the main mall of Texvalley. Other wholesalers who booked their showrooms will get possession in phases over the next 15 months.
Based on the intended usage, the entire Texvalley project has been categorised into three broad categories, namely, Daily Market, Weekly Market and International Convention Centre. Designed to accommodate 1,599 shops each having a standard size of 210 sq ft, the Daily Market is the main market and has a total built-up area of 1.13 million sq ft.
Accommodating about 1,800 stalls, the Weekly Market has been conceived for conducting weekly fairs catering to the textile needs of nearby towns under one roof, enabling both the wholesale buyers and sellers a better ambience and business atmosphere.
The International Convention Centre has been planned and designed for conducting trade fairs of textile goods and textile machinery, fashion shows and other important events.
While the shops in the Weekly Market are fully booked and operational since August 2014, the number of operational shops in Daily Market is expected to reach 300 soon. (RKS)
