Chinese firms can invest in apparel park: Pak Punjab CM

Quaid-e-Azam apparel park project should be completed with speed, standard and transparency, said Shahbaz Sharif. He also said that the project is vital for the development of the garment and textile sector of the country and invited Chinese companies to invest in it. The Punjab government will provide all the necessary facilities to them, he added.

Sharif, chief minister of the Punjab province of Pakistan also said that the upcoming apparel park the along the Lahore-Sheikhupura motorway will be completed in a professional manner, while addressing the top officials of various Chinese companies in Beijing over a video conference from Lahore.

Describing the park as a splendid project, Chinese officials assured the minister about their willingness to invest in it, according to Pakistani media reports.

The park covers an area of over 1,500 acres and its plots will be sold on a first come first serve basis. The time frame for setting up production units will be 6 months.

Around 1,000 acres of land within the park will be provided to production units of knitted or woven garments. Each unit will get a 10-acre plot. The rest of the space will be utilised for service area. (KD)
