Jul '16
Online retailer, Amazon India has opened its largest Fulfilment Centre (FC), of over 200,000 square feet and with more than 800,000 cubic feet of storage space in Sonepat, near New Delhi.

This FC will allow Amazon.in to offer its Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) service to several thousand more small and medium sized businesses in the Delhi NCR region and the state of Haryana.

According to Amazon, with the opening of this FC, the combined storage capacity available to sellers on Amazon.in will increase 1.5 times to 7.5 million cubic feet by the end of this year.

“Local sellers, weavers, craftsmen and artisans involved in traditional textiles and handicrafts too would be able to reach a wider set of customers through this new FC,” the online retailer said.

Amazon India, under the aegis of its Amazon Cares program, also inaugurated a Community library and Resource center in Sonipat which has been set up in partnership with Rural Education and Development (READ) India.

With the vision of 'Creating opportunities and transforming lives' Amazon.in will create programs to impact and enhance the lives of the local community in the areas of education, livelihood, health and sanitation. (AR)
