The world's biggest online retailer Amazon said it plans to open its tenth California fulfillment centre in Sacramento and is expected to create over 1,000 full time hourly roles.

The company had recently announced that it plans to open new fulfillment centres in north Sacramento, Tracy and Eastvale, all in California.

These centres will join other fulfillment centres in California in Moreno Valley, Patterson, Redlands, Rialto, San Bernardino and Tracy.

Akash Chauhan, Amazon's vice president of North American Operations said, “Customers are seeing on a regular basis Amazon's customer obsession, innovative culture, and operational excellence.”

“All of which is driven by the 14,000-plus Californians who work in Amazon fulfillment centres across the state and we are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished in California,” he added.

Amazon employees at the over 855,000 square foot Sacramento fulfillment centre will pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys. (AR)
