Moreglam, the Leicester-based manufacturer and importer of girls and women's wear, has been placed into administration. The directors of the company asked its bank to seek the administration after the firm failed to meet the delivery orders in recent weeks.
Moreglam, established in the 1990s, was a supplier to many high street retailers such as Dunnes, Republic, New Look, and Peacocks. But, its business suffered in the present economic scenario, and its bank debts had mounted to nearly £4 million, which made it difficult for the firm to function ordinarily.
Leading financial and business adviser Grant Thornton UK, represented by Jeremy Birch and David Bennett, have been appointed administrators.
The administrators have made 70 employees of Moreglam redundant, while retaining nine others to assist them. The administrators will study the options available to sell the stock and chose the best result for creditors.
The presently retained nine Moreglam staff members will be made redundant, once the process of paying to creditors is completed.
