BEARTek gloves born to control music

Blue Infusion Technologies, a tech/apparel company based in Maryland, has developed BEARTek audio control gloves. BEARTek gloves solve a problem faced by motorcycle riders, skiers, bicyclists, and others – how to easily control music while wearing gloves?

Blue Infusion Technologies was founded in September 2010 by Willie Blount. Mr. Blount is an entrepreneur who faced the challenge of trying to control the music on his smart phone while riding his motorcycle. He recognized there are probably many active people facing the same challenge whether it is skiers, runners, cyclists, etc. “There are very few simple, available methods to easily and safely control your audio experience while wearing gloves,” stated Mr. Blount. He sought out a solution, built a company, created a team, and the BEARTek glove was born. BEARTek gloves use Bluetooth technology to enable a wearer to safely and easily control a Bluetooth capable smart phone.

BEARTek gloves' design is based around a method of controlling music with a single hand but doesn't affect the feel of the gloves by adding buttons to the fingertips. Instead, an integrated solution of conductive fabric and a couple of well placed buttons on key areas of the fingers and thumb was revealed. The result is easy fingertip control of the wearer's audio experience.

“Cost, upgradeability, and maintenance were also major points of concern for the development team at Blue Infusion Technologies,”stated Mr. Blount. “To ensure the product would be within the financial reach of many of the target demographics, we've designed the glove with a Bluetooth module which is interchangeable with any of the glove series and other future products the company will be developing.”

The first glove series is designed for motorcyclists, however, there are plans to build gloves and accessories around other popular activities such as skiing, cycling, and running. Blue Infusion Technologies is positioning to have BEARTek ski and snowboard gloves available this winter.

Blue Infusion Technologies is now seeking financing to manufacture the flagship products and take them to market. Willie Blount has launched a campaign on Indiegogo to generate the funds and solidify market demand for BEARTek audio control gloves. The gloves are on track to be available in fall 2011 assuming a successful financing campaign.
