New Chief for Sears' Merchandising, Apparel & Accessories

Sears Canada Inc announced the appointment of Steven Goldsmith as Executive Vice-President, Merchandising, Apparel & Accessories. Mr. Goldsmith will be responsible for the style and trend direction, and overall merchandising activities of women's, men's and children's apparel, footwear and fashion accessories, as well as cosmetics, fragrances, jewellery, luggage and children's nursery products and toys.
Since 2007, Mr. Goldsmith has been Executive Vice President, Limited Brands Direct, responsible for the marketing, merchandising, web expression and web support for Victoria's Secret Direct and the end-to-end responsibilities for Bath and Body Works Direct. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Goldsmith was responsible for the endless.com business segment of Amazon, where he was responsible for apparel, footwear, jewellery, and accessories on both endless.com as well as all other Amazon platforms.
Prior to Amazon, Mr. Goldsmith was Chief Merchandising Officer at SmartBargains.com following a role as Senior Vice President and Chief Merchant with ShopNBC where the e-commerce business increased sixfold over the two year period he was there, with the addition of categories introduced by Mr. Goldsmith such as home fashions and women's ready-to-wear. In the five years before this, he was at The Bon-Ton Stores where he held the position of Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager for ready-to-wear, juniors, dresses, intimate apparel, footwear and accessories and before that Divisional Vice-President for Children's where he doubled the kids private brand balance-of-sale in just 24 months.
After graduating in 1988 from The State University of New York (Albany), Mr. Goldsmith joined the May Department Stores Company, spending the first decade of his retail career in the Lord & Taylor, Filene's and Foley's divisions, with merchandising roles in menswear, jewellery, watches, cosmetics and fragrances.

Sears Canada is a multi-channel retailer with a network that includes 196 corporate stores, 272 hometown dealer stores, 33 home improvement showrooms, 1,800 catalogue merchandise pick-up locations, 108 Sears Travel offices and a nationwide home maintenance, repair, and installation network.
