Women relying on social welfare allowances in Fiji will soon be imparted training at a sewing machine centre established in the premises of the Suva-based Fiji Women's Federation building.
Dr. Jiko Luveni, Minister for Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation stated that Republic of China's Zhejiang Gemsy Import and Export Company is donating 20 industrial sewing machines for the purpose, and she is visiting China to formally accept the machines.
The Minister said that single women would get an opportunity to receive training in sewing craft, which would help them find employment in the country's garment and tourism industry.
