Chinese home clothing segment posts rapid growth

With the improvement in disposable incomes and consumer lifestyles, sales of night wear, loungewear, thermal innerwear, etc have risen in recent years and its market share in overall clothing segment has been increasing steadily.

China's total domestic consumption of home apparel has reached US $10 billion and its annual growth rate has exceeded 30 percent. Currently, home clothing segment is the fastest growing and most promising industry in China's garment industry.

This has led many garment producers to foray in to this very promising segment. However, despite the segment growing rapidly, it also faces problems.

China has many home clothing manufacturers, but does not yet have a large home clothing domestic brand, which experts aver needs to be addressed urgently.

A recent research report on China's casual home clothing market points out that, home clothing will become a trend within the Chinese consumer clothing market. It is a huge market, but has not yet matured.

The report adds, “In the next few years, with the improvement in consumption patterns, more and more consumers will choose home clothing and will become a new sunrise industry, with huge market potential”.
