Big clothing firms in China account for over 70 percent of the total production of the entire clothing industry in the country.
Big enterprises are those firms that have an annual sales income of more than 20 million Yuan, according to the latest definition issued in 2011 by the National Bureau of Statistics.
Earlier, companies with annual sales income of 5 million Yuan were considered to be big enterprises and there were 19,143 such companies at the end of 2010.
However, after the modification in the definition, the number of big enterprises has reduced to 10,899 by June 2011, i.e. the companies have declined by 43 percent and big companies now form only 10 percent of the total clothing companies in the country.
