Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry, President of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has said that Sialkot's business community not only plays an active role in revamping the export city, but also helps it fulfil its social obligations with great enthusiasm.
The SCCI President stated that textile exports contribute around 60 percent of overall earnings of the country and also holds to be one of the leading employment generating sectors of the country.
He stated of Sialkot to be the centre of exports and a city with budding sportswear industry that caters to the export needs of leading brands and overseas buyers across the world.
He, however, added that the key export industry was experiencing acute labour shortage, which was impeding its growth.
In order to counter this problem, the Federal Government granted permission for setting up of Sportswear Training Institute Sialkot (TIS), which would play a key role in uplifting sportswear and other segments of the textile industry, and would even help in generation of more employment opportunities, Chaudhry said.
