The first retail store of Shoppers Stop Limited (SSL) in Gujarat has come up in Ahmedabad.
The Indian retailing giant plans to open eight more retail stores in the country during fiscal 2011-12. It also plans to increase its large format retail stores to 50 by the end of current fiscal from the current tally of 46.
The large format SSL stores offer apparel and accessories of high-end Indian and international brands, including Guess, Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, FCUK, DKNY, Prada and Espirit. In addition to these brands, the newly opened Ahmedabad outlet will also sell UCB, Austin Reed and Jack & Jones.
SSL is expecting a healthy growth in the second quarter of the current fiscal. In the first quarter, the company clocked a turnover of 4.46 billion on standalone basis. Around 80 percent of the firm's sales are from the branded segment.
