The Thai-Cambodian border would soon witness setting up of a garment manufacturing unit.
According to the industry circles, setting up of the garment unit, which is scheduled to commence operations in Cambodia's Koh Kong province in April 2012, is an indication of commencement of manufacturing activities along the Thai-Cambodian border.
Ly Yong Phat, Developer of the Koh Kong Special Economic Zone, informed that Thai-owned KKN Apparel has inked a deal with them for setting up the unit in the province to the West of the Kingdom.
This would be the province's first garment producing unit and would serve as a source of employment for over 2,000 people, Mr. Phat said.
The new facility would locate itself amongst several assembly plants that are at present operational in the special economic zone.
President of Garment Manufacturers Association of Cambodia, Van Sou Ieng, said that as ASEAN member nations are working towards integrated textile policies, manufacturing industry of the Cambodian provinces that share borders with other richer countries would draw more and more investments.
