Sanko to introduce Zeugma (high performance cotton fabric)

Developed by Sanko Textil, Zeugma is a new high performance cotton fabric process offering a unique combination of aesthetics and performance.

Turkish spinner and knitter Sanko Textil is introducing Zeugma a new range of high performance cotton fabrics at the upcoming Performance Days show. The high quality yarns combine high moisture absorption and high durability with enzyme-free washing and low pilling.

The company will take part in Performance Days road show in November 2011.

The performances of Zeugma by Sanko Textil are based on the long and parallel fibers that guarantee fine and smooth textile surfaces. Because of the smooth fiber structure, Zeugma yarns wick away humidity: moisture is absorbed and quickly distributed throughout the fabric. Zeugma fibers also feature reduced pilling due to the smooth interconnecting filaments that minimize the lint and dust. Finally, the ultra smooth and bright surface of Zeugma fabrics makes enzyme washing unnecessary.

Zeugma's unique combination of long and parallel fibers also prevents fibers from breaking away, meaning the fabric keeps a nice clean finish for longer. This also infuses Zeugma fabrics with higher resistance to the long-term effects of washing compared to other fabrics.

Zeugma rounds out Sanko's array of high performance cotton yarn and fabrics, which also includes TransDry and Storm Cotton, two functional yarn and fabric concepts developed by Cotton Inc. Designed for first layer apparel, TransDry transfers moisture away from the skin and disperses it over a wide surface area of fabric. Storm Cotton targets outerwear end-uses and combines the natural comfort of cotton with a water repellent finish that protects the wearer from rain and snow, as well as speeding up drying.

Sanko Textil was founded in 1943 by Sani Konukoglu. The company is based in Gaziantep, a town in southeast Turkey. Sanko Textil is one of the country's most important textile groups, with 12,000 employees, and a leader in ring and O/E yarns. Daily spinning production capacity is 300 tons of yarn per day, while the knitting facility produces 150 tons of knitted fabric every day.

Sanko is certified to produce Supima, Cotton USA (cotton grown in the United States) and Egyptian Cotton. The plant is ISO 9001:2000 certified, with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certificate for dyeing and bleaching.

Created as a special platform for functional sports- and workwear fabrics to include yarns, finishes, and accessories, Performance Days has become established as a semi-annual event currently held in Munich, Germany and Annecy, France.
