Taiwan to set up first of its kind socks industrial zone

Taiwanese government has mulled setting up a socks manufacturing industrial park in Shetou, Changhwa County in central Taiwan.
The socks park, the first of its kind in the country will be set up at a cost of US $16.37 million and will be ready by July 2013.
Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) will set up the special zone for socks producers on an area of 7.49 hectares.
Shetou is renowned as a socks manufacturing cluster with around 400 socks producers based in the town and accounts for around 75 percent of socks produced in the country.
According to IDB, so far around 20 socks producers have evinced interest in setting up units in the park.
