Madagascar cotton apparels find their way to China

Cotton apparels made in the Indian Ocean island country of Madagascar are being sold in China as they meet all the standards stipulated for entry into the Chinese market.
Cotton shirts and trousers manufactured by a Madagascar company Cottonline are distributed by leading global brands including Decathlon, Marks & Spencer, Woolworth and Zara.
Since 2000, Cottonline has been exporting its products to South Africa, Europe and some countries in the Indian Ocean region. This year, the company has started exporting its quality “Made in Madagascar” apparels to China, too.
Although the volume of apparel exports to China is still low, the company is optimistic of bagging more number of orders as its products are being very much liked by the Chinese consumers.
Cottonline apparel, a subsidiary of Cotona, lies in the export processing zone (EPZ) in Antsirabe, 170 km from the capital Antananarivo.
