The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) announced the promotion of Susan Lapetina to Vice President, Industry Relations. Lapetina most recently served as Senior Director, Industry Relations.

“Through Susan's diligent work, AAFA has successfully expanded our reach both at home and around the world as the best source of information for the U.S. apparel and footwear industry,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “

“When it comes to overcoming regulatory and legislative challenges, I look forward to working with Susan in her new role as we continue keeping the industry ahead of the curve and competitive in the global market.”

Along with her new responsibility of overseeing AAFA's international and domestic educational programs and conferences, Lapetina will continue to serve as a staff liaison for several of AAFA's committees, including the Brand Protection Council and Footwear Division.

Lapetina has been with AAFA since 1999 developing footwear and apparel initiatives on key issues of relevance. From educational programming to business networking and industry relationship building, she has developed numerous industry events including AAFA's international conferences and domestic workshops, issues-based committees, and AAFA's signature Annual Executive Summit.

Prior to AAFA, she was Principal of Marketing Evolutions, a strategic planning services firm. A graduate of Canisius College, Lapetina is originally from upstate New York.

Lapetina was promoted into this new position following the recent transition of Mary Howell who now serves as a special advisor to AAFA President and CEO Kevin Burke.
