INVISTA is launching its Spring 2013 Denim Concepts Collection at the Kingpins Shows taking place in New York on Jan. 17-18. The collection features innovative commercial fabrics made with branded INVISTA fibers, from denim mills around the globe. Focused on three key themes – reinvent, recover and renew – the new Denim Concepts Collection showcases fabrics and garments that can help consumers look and feel better by offering comfort, style and performance.

The first theme of the collection – reinvent – is built around re-engineering men's denim. “The idea behind this is to provide men with options for enhanced comfort and performance compared to traditional 100% cotton fabric,” says Jean Hegedus, INVISTA Ready-to-Wear marketing director. The newest concept in the reinvent mix is TOUGH MAX LYCRA fabric, made from a blend of cotton with LYCRA T400 fiber or LYCRA fiber wrapped with polyester. These fabrics offer moderate stretch for comfort in wear and twice the abrasion resistance of comparable 100% cotton fabrics, making them ideal for work or play.

Another “reinvent” offering is CORDURA Denim fabric. With more than four times the durability of 100% cotton jeans, these fabrics offer consumers garments that last longer, providing both durability, and in turn, supporting the brand's CORDURA Cares(SM) program tagline of 'Sustainability Begins With Products That Last'. New CORDURA Denim fabrics from Artistic Milliners including 288 gsm (8.5 osy) as well as make-to-order Pantone color finishes and stretch versions with LYCRA fiber technology will be showcased.

The final concept rounding out the “reinvent” theme is COOLMAX fabric which is designed to keep the wearer cool and dry.

The second theme is “recover” and focuses on fabrics that keep their shape over time. The first recover offering is LYCRA dualFX fabric which was launched in May 2011 and has received very favorable reaction from mills, brands and retailers. These fabrics combine the high stretch of LYCRA fiber with the excellent recovery properties of LYCRA T400 fiber, solving many of the issues the industry has experienced with super stretch fabrics.

Also featured under the “recover” umbrella are XFIT LYCRA fabrics, which provide 360 degree comfort and fit and LYCRA lastingFIT fabrics, with moderate one-way stretch and long lasting shape retention.

The third and final theme is “renew” and is based on bringing innovative fabric concepts to the consumer. To accomplish this INVISTA is launching a new brand, LYCRA Style fiber, developed specifically to meet the needs of the ready-to-wear market. In creating the brand, INVISTA worked with Innerscope, a leader in biometric research, to better understand what messages were relevant and emotionally engaging to the consumer.

“Incorporating these messages into our LYCRA Style fiber brand communications will enable us to break through the clutter and resonate with our target audience,” said Hegedus.
