Avery Dennison Corp., a California, US-based producer of apparel labels and graphic tickets, has announced plans to permanently close its manufacturing facility in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The manufacturing unit at Summit Avenue in Greensboro is part of Avery Dennison's Retail Branding and Information Solutions (RBIS) arm that manufactures apparel tags and graphic tickets.
This will lead to retrenchment of 59 employees beginning in March 2012. It will include job positions from machine operators to managers.
However, about 78 employees from Summit Avenue facility will be transferred to the company's another unit, also in Greensboro, where the firm plans to run a quick-response production facility for printed fabric labels to cater to US apparel brands and retailers.
The company will employ around 130 people in all at the quick-response unit.
Avery Dennison said it is reorganizing its US operations to be able to better serve its international clients.
