Apparel expert, Alvanon has announced that its president, Ed Gribbin and its chief executive officer, Janice Wang-Millard, have been invited to take part in two major debates at the prestigious Prime Source Forum (PSF), Honk Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, in Theatre II, Thursday 29th and Friday 30th March 2012.

Ed Gribbin, who is widely respected as the international authority on fashion sizing and fit, has been invited to sit on the opening panel session 1, Thursday 29th March 10.35am to 11.50am, to debate: 'The outlook for the fashion industry amid global financial uncertainty'.

Janice Wang-Millard, co-founder of Alvanon and who recently launched a global mentoring program to support young design talent, will sit on session 7, Friday 30th March 15.05 to 16.20 to address the crucial question: 'Is academia providing the required training for students planning to enter the fashion industry? – Solutions to closing the talent gap'.

Kevin Burke, president and CEO of the American Apparel & Footwear Association will chair Session 1 'The outlook for the fashion industry amid global financial uncertainty'.

Ed Gribbin, who will include his experiences of the Russian and Latin American markets, will be joined by fellow panelists Peter Hevicon, general manager, Debenhams Honk Kong Ltd; Professor Dr Helmut Merkel, managing shareholder, Prologue Asia Pacific Ltd and EurAsia Global Concept Ltd; and Professor Michael Redwood, MBA, FSLTC, visiting professor in business development in leather, University of Northampton, UK.

Session 7 will be chaired by Professor Philip Yeung, executive director, clothing industry training authority, Hong Kong which in addition to Janice Wang-Millard will comprise; Dr. Nancy Cassill, professor and head of department of Textile Apparel & Technology Management, College of Textiles, North Carolina State University; Professor Lee Wing-bun, chair professor of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, and head of the State Key Laboratory in Ultra-precision Machining Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; and Ms. Judy MANN, managing director and chief consultant & designer, Cheetah Management Co. Ltd.

The PSF 2012 will open on Wednesday 28th March with a series of workshops and will continue into the full forum program on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th March.

Founded in 2006, Prime Source Forum is held in Hong Kong once a year and brings together more than 400 senior executives from 20+ countries to discuss the challenges and opportunities that manufacturers, suppliers and retailers are facing in the supply chain of the apparel industry.

For this reason, it is a forum and not a conference as delegate involvement is an important element of its success. The 2012 forum, for the first time, has been extended to include the footwear industry.

Founded in 2001, the Alvanon Group of companies is the global leader in providing full service, integrated fit solutions for the apparel industry.
