Taiwan's leading fabric producer, Poly Spinning, which recently ventured into garment manufacturing, has launched its own brand 'GFun' featuring sportswear and functional apparels.

Looking to expand in garment production segment, the firm spent around NT$ 200 million or US$ 6.67 million towards establishment of a garment facility in northern Taiwan's Taoyuan County during the third quarter of 2011.

The garment facility set up on an area of 12,000 pings (1 ping = 36 square feet) will be manufacturing apparels for the new brand, which will include items like windbreakers, golf apparels, raincoats, snow jackets and leisure apparels.

As stated by the company's Chairman, C.H. Tsai, the firm proposes to expand its garment facility to eight production lines by close of current year to cater to rising market demand. This, he said, would induce requirement for an additional workforce of 300 persons.

Prior to expansion, Poly Spinning was into fabric processing, producing processed clothes that had UV resistance, breathability, sterility, windproof and anti-bacterial features. These were supplied to globally renowned brands like Adidas, Columbia, Nike, Puma, Helly Hansen, The North Face and Jack Wolfskin
