TEA welcomes Tamil Nadu budget 2012-13

Thiru. O. Panneerselvam, Hon'ble Minister for Finance, Government of Tamil Nadu, presented the Budget 2012-2013 to the Legislative Assembly.

While reacting to Tamil Nadu Budget 2012-13, Dr. A. Sakthivel President of Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) said he welcomed the introduction of legislation to form the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board with the Hon'ble Chief Minister as the Chairperson to commence implementation of the new projects which will be helpful to address the infrastructure bottlenecks in Tamil Nadu and also help to reduce the cost of the products and also to enhance the competitiveness of export sectors.

Dr. Sakthivel welcomed the unveiling of New Industrial Policy to facilitate the realization of the Vision 2023 with a focus on growth with employment generation.

Dr. A. Sakthivel lauded the announcement of reorganizing of the “Tamil Nadu Skill Development Mission” (TNSDM) as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) with participation from the private sector as well for delivering skill training, certification, combining continuing education with work in co-ordination with industry which is need of the hour to the industries. Dr. Sakthivel also appreciated the establishing of employment exchanges, 37 District level Private Sector Placement Assistance Cells in all 32 Districts, which would help the industries while recruiting new employees.

While thanking for sanctioning of Rs.179.34 crores to revive 18 CETPs in Tirupur, Dr. Sakthivel said that with the supporting measures of the State Government, Tirupur knitwear sector has gained the confidence and expecting that the industry will get revived and once again comes to normal activities.

Dr. Sakthivel hailed the introduction of a new e-governance policy, which will fulfill the requirement of transparency and at the same time help to reduce the time taken to execute the work.

While welcoming the more allocation for upgrading and maintenance of Roads of State Highways Roads, Dr.Sakthivel also appreciated the initiatives taken for improving power position and allocation of Rs.1,500 Crores in the budget as share capital support for new power projects.

He also welcomed the support given to TANGEDCO with share capital for new projects. Dr. Sakthivel hoped that the power situation would improve within another six months. He also welcomed the initiatives being taken to strengthen the transmission infrastructure for evacuation of wind energy as requested by the industries.
