Vietnamese garment firms learn more about US market

Several Vietnamese enterprises engaged in manufacturing and exports of garments will get a chance to update themselves with information about the US market at a conference titled “New opportunities to approach the US market”.

The conference being held in Ha Noi, is being organized by the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) to coincide with the visit of Jessie Zhang, Business Development Manager of Tiger Trade, a business-to-business firm that connects Southeast Asian manufacturers with international partners, especially in the US.

Ms. Zhang is in-charge of foreign customers at this year's 'Sourcing at Magic' trade show, North America's largest, most comprehensive sourcing event for the fashion industry, which is to be held in August 2012.

At the conference, Vietnamese apparel firms will be provided information regarding new opportunities to approach small and medium sized distributors in the US. Information will also be shared with the garment entrepreneurs on the US market and purchasing trend reports.

During the past few years, the US has become a key destination for Vietnamese clothing item exports. Last year, Vietnam exported US$ 6.87 billion worth of garments and textiles to the US, which accounted for 43.4 percent of all Vietnamese apparel and textile exports.
