New garment making units would be set up at four different places in Dharwad district of the southern Indian state of Karnataka.
These units will be set up by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) at Pashupatihal, Kanavi Honnapur, Navanagar and Yamanur in the district.
The four new apparel units will together employ about 300 people, according to N Jayashankar Sharma, Regional Director of the SKDRDP.
The SKDRDP is engaged in creating self-help groups (SHGs) that enable villagers to become financially self-reliant and contribute to the development of their community.
In Dharwad district, 11,385 SHGs have been formed under the project, which have together posted savings of Rs. 215.5 million.
