More than 100 Pakistani traders are exhibiting their intricate apparel design and pattern collection in 32 booths at the on going Indo-Pakistan trade fair in Shimla, the capital city of the North Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said the five-day expo would help in bolstering trade ties between the two countries.

Given an opportunity to interact, if people from different countries develop good rapport with each other, it would certainly improve political relations and intensify trade ties between them, he said, and added that bilateral relations between the two countries can flourish only in a conducive environment.

Emphasizing on the need for regional cooperation to improve bilateral ties, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice-President Iqbal Ahmed said trade events like the Indo-Pak trade expo provide an opportunity for people of the two countries to come closer, as both the countries share common social and cultural heritage.

He said regional cooperation and unity are imperative at this point in time, and hence both the countries should jointly devise a path for mutual cooperation.

Besides Pakistan, traders from Egypt, Canada, Afghanistan and Korea are also participating in the fair that showcases various finely designed garments, footwear and handicraft products.
