A team of four students from the Fashion Retail Academy will represent the UK at the annual World Retail Congress on 20th September 2012.   The finalists were Luis Aaron Donegan-Brown, Leigh Hart, Thomas Joseph O'Donnell and Victoria Young.

Beating off other teams from within the Academy, the students have booked their place at the final of the global student competition, the Retail Futures Challenge, which forms part of the World Retail Congress.

The Fashion Retail Academy team will then have to present their ideas for a completely new retail business that meets all the demands of today’s shoppers who expect to shop via all channels available to them: the physical store, online, mobile, social media or catalogues.

They will present to over 1,000 retail executives who will gather in London for the World Retail Congress and to a panel of judges.  The Fashion Retail Academy finalists will compete against teams from New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong and Mumbai.

Philip Green, Founder of the Fashion Retail Academy said: “This year’s Fashion Retail Academy team have exactly the right combination of retail knowledge, confidence, creativity and energy which makes them outstanding representatives for the Academy, London and UK retailing at this year’s Retail Futures Challenge final in September.”

Ian McGarrigle, Chairman of the World Retail Congress said: “We are delighted that the Fashion Retail Academy is going to be represented again at the Retail Futures Challenge. The competition has grown to become one of the high points of the World Retail Congress and it is fantastic to see these future leaders of retailing setting out their ideas in front of an audience of retail professionals. I wish them all the very best of luck for the final on September 20th”.
