Meanwhile, in the Fashion Zone, the ‘JEANISM ? Gathering at night’ was a show put on in collaboration with the fashion industry. Winning works from the 2012 Nagoya Fashion Contest were also on display. In Japan Ingenuity Corner visitors were impressed by ways in which the latest industrial craft skills have been applied to solve problems.
Symposiums and seminars: Range of various topics successfully attracted interest
In the symposium held on the first day of the show, following the sponsor’s address by JASMA Chairman Yoshihiro Yasui, in a panel discussion, representatives from Japan and overseas talked about ‘The coming generation of sewing machines and the form of the sewing industry’. On the second day, in the Linkage Symposium round tables and presentations considered ‘These days, what’s so special about Made in Japan?’ In halls packed to beyond seating capacity, many attended both symposiums even though there was standing room only. The daily seminars were also well attended and there was a high level of interest in the issues raised.
Looking forward to the next JIAM
The next JIAM is scheduled to take place in Japan in 2016 four years from now. Details such as venue and dates are yet to be decided. We hope to enjoy the same level of support and encouragement for the next show in the series.
