Aoki wins bid to provide Tokyo Olympic uniforms

Tokyo 2020 announced that AOKI Holdings, one of the largest fashion retail chains in Japan, has become Tokyo’s latest Official Bid Partner, bringing the growing list of corporate partners to 18.

JUNKO SHIMADA JS homme, globally renowned fashion designer Junko Shimada and AOKI’s tie-up brand, will produce Tokyo 2020’s official uniforms for future presentations, including the Host City Election of the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games at Buenos Aires on 7 September.

AOKI Holdings’ President and COO Akihiro Aoki said: “We are fully behind Tokyo 2020’s efforts to bring the world’s greatest sports celebration to the heart of one of the most forward-thinking cities in the world. It will be our pleasure to dress the Bid with smart attire that expresses both the professionalism and celebratory spirit that characterise Tokyo 2020.”

Tsunekazu Takeda, IOC member and President of both the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) and Tokyo 2020, said: “With less than six months to go until the Host City election, I am pleased to introduce AOKI as the 18th official Tokyo 2020 Bid Partner.

"We are excited about working with AOKI, as well as other future partners who share our goal of welcoming the world to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Junko Shimada, a long-time resident of Paris, began her career in Paris in 1981 when she first opened the JUNKO SHIMADA DESIGN STUDIO. Since then she has participated in the Paris and Tokyo collections yearly and established herself as a renowned fashion designer.
