SVIMS to organize 'Evolve' conclave on retail & ecommerce

Mumbai-based Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies & Research (SVIMS) is organizing ‘Evolve,’ a national conclave on Retail and Ecommerce at the Nehru Centre, Mumbai on May 16 & 17, 2013.

The objectives of this conclave are to discuss the emerging trends in retail and e-commerce, the policies affecting retail and e-commerce, the role of Customer Relationship Management and supply chain in retail and need for training in these areas and the future of retail and e-commerce.

The conclave will facilitate information dissemination on retail and e-commerce amongst the small and medium enterprises and retailers along with young retail professionals, from leading retailers and e-commerce professionals in this sector.

Some of the key speakers slated to attend the event are, Mr. Kishore Biyani - Future Group, Mr. Jaitirth Rao (Jerry Rao), Executive Chairman VBHC (Founder and Former CEO, Mphasis), Mr. Vineet Gautam, Country Head, Bestseller India – (Vero Moda, Only and Jack & Jones), Mr. Niraj Hedaoo, Director, e-commerce, Rediff.com and Mr. N Muralidharan, CEO, NSE Infotech Services Ltd (Technology arm of NSE).

With their immense industry knowledge and having experience of having seen the industry grow in the last 20 years, these speakers are expected to give realistic and workable insights on how the retail and e-commerce industry needs to gear itself to face challenges of the 21st century.

Dr. Manjunath, Director General, SVIMS, said, “India being a vast country of skewed developers i.e. fair in urban areas but weak in hinterland, will have to overcome various hurdles such as an established and efficient supply chain management system, advance customer service and related standard management while identifying high human resources to fill the vast requirements and also understanding the ramifications of the contemporary retail’s impact on the traditional Indian retail. This seminar is an attempt to create awareness and raise the issues which are pertinent to the current social, cultural and the economic dynamics within India”.

About Evolve:

EVOLVE is aimed at exploring the upcoming opportunities and new business avenues out of the massive growth in the fields of Retail and E-Commerce. The seminar aims at giving a panoramic view of the sectors and providing an open forum for discussions.

About SVIMS:

SVIMS or (Sir M Visvesvaraya Institute of Management & Research) is a B-School which has been built with the objective of providing quality management education to students. It aims to inculcate in its students, the quality of being responsible to one’s society who are trained to create self sustainable organizations through implementation of sound business strategies. SVIMS is affiliated to the University of Mumbai for the MMS programme.

SVIMS emphasizes on business management training through simulation and practical experience. Thinking mode of learning, hands on learning and high performance leadership, are the other practical learning approaches adopted by the institute.
