NRF loss prevention conference kicks-off on June 12

Retail theft and other types of fraudulent activity have cost retailers billions of dollars over the years, and next week, the industry will come together to collectively address these issues and more.

NRF’s Loss Prevention Conference and EXPO, the nation’s leading retail-specific event for retail loss prevention executives, law enforcement officials, risk management and asset protection executives, will kick off in San Diego, June 12-14 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Experts and guests will gather to discuss and learn about some of the most important issues in loss prevention such as organized retail crime, employee and criminal background checks, and cyber security.

Opening the event will be United States Navy SEAL Lieutenant Commander Rorke Denver, who will discuss his personal experiences training soldiers in special-force missions and how it relates to leadership development practices in the work environment. Denver will also be joined by Gary Johnson, vice president of Loss Prevention at Vitamin Shoppe Industries.

The “Elite Leadership: Lessons from a Navy SEAL Commander” keynote will take place Wednesday, June 12 at 8:30 a.m.

Dr. Larry Barton, crisis management and workplace violence expert, will take the stage Wednesday, June 12 at 4:30 p.m. for the “New Dynamics in Threat Assessment and Violence Prevention: Emerging Issues and Challenges to Protect Your People and Brand” keynote session. Rosamaria Sostilio, senior vice president, asset protection at Saks Incorporated will join Dr. Barton to discuss how companies process and manage threats in stores and distribution centers.

Additionally, NRF will announce the recipients of its annual Law Enforcement Retail Partnership Award (LERPA), NRF’s Ring of Excellence Award and the Loss Prevention Case of the Year during “The Best of Retail Loss Prevention: Thought Leadership, Research, and Awards” keynote on Thursday, June 13 at 8:30 a.m.

Also returning to the event this year is the NRF Fusion Center, a designated area on the EXPO Hall floor where retailers and law enforcement professionals at the state, federal and local level can collaborate on solutions to combat retail crimes.
