Brazil's Santa Catarina hopes to gain from Berlin fairs

A team from Brazil’s southern state of Santa Catarina is currently in Berlin, Germany to attend two international exhibitions related to denim, casual fashion and urban fashion—Bread and Butter, Berlin and Premium International Trade Show Spring/Summer 2014.

The business trip to Germany is being sponsored by the Federation of Industries of Santa Catarina State (FIESC), which unites over 130 unions, the association said in a statement.

The aim of the visit to the fairs is to gain firsthand knowledge of world fashion trends, including street collections made from denim, and luxurious men’s and women’s apparel.

It would also give them an opportunity to meet and establish contact with designers, the FIESC statement said.

In addition to visiting the fairs, the delegation led by Pedro Leal, will visit Fashion Gallery Berlin showroom of several brands, and Galeria Kaufhof, the largest department store in Germany.

The visits would help the businessmen to closely watch the German designs, considered as functional and innovative by experts.

The visit has been organized in collaboration with the Industries Union of Spinning, Weaving, Knitting and Clothing (Sinfiatec), with support from Brazil’s Agency for Support to Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses (Sebrae).

Bread & Butter Berlin is the largest fair for denim in the world and is held twice a year, bringing together about 600 exhibitors and more than 100,000 visitors.

The Premium International Trade Show brings together over 300 brands focused on haute couture segment, where Germany is considered a benchmark in relation to production technology.
