Darn Tough Vermont, American manufacturer of the only premium, performance socks with an unconditional lifetime guarantee, reports that Q2 2013 sales and profitability were the best ever for the second quarter in its, and parent Cabot Hosiery’s, 35-year history. Year to date topline growth was up 63% versus the corresponding period in 2012, a highly successful year that itself saw revenue up 54% over 2011, while Q2 was up 60% compared to the same period last year.

“Beyond being exciting growth figures for our company, these statistics more importantly point to something critically important in the immensely competitive outdoor performance sock market, namely that we’re able to bring in increasing numbers of new converts to our products, even as we retain our current customers and grow their loyalty to the Darn Tough brand,” said Ric Cabot, president and CEO of Darn Tough Vermont.

“We continue to invest in our infrastructure at our Northfield mill, taking delivery of more state-of-the-art seamless knitting machines and increasing our footprint to accommodate our growth. We continue to find, hire and retain the most skilled and dedicated talent to make and market our socks. But at the end of the day, I attribute Darn Tough’s success to our single-minded focus on quality. We knit a Made In USA product and unconditionally guarantee it for life, and I believe it’s the best product on the market.”

A strong showing from the running line has fueled the company’s second quarter growth, including the success of the Light Cushion Run/Bike socks, which started shipping to retail in Spring 2013. Building off that momentum, Darn Tough has expanded its Light Cushion collection into both the Hike/Trek and Lifestyle lines.

About Darn Tough Vermont

Darn Tough Vermont is an American manufacturer of premium, all-weather outdoor socks with headquarters in Northfield, Vermont, offering both Specialty and Tactical product lines. Darn Tough Vermont’s Specialty line offers footwear in six active wear categories: ski/ride, hike/trek, run/bike, lifestyle, hunt and kid’s styles – all of which carry the industry’s only unconditional lifetime guarantee.

Darn Tough’s product is distinguished from industry competitors by 100 percent USA manufacturing; small-needle knitting which results in more stitches per inch and exceptional durability and cushioning; True-Seamless technology; and an exclusive blend of either Coolmax or ultra-fine merino wool for comfort, fit, durability and moisture management. The company was founded by Ric Cabot in 2004, a third-generation sock maker, and operates out of Cabot Hosiery Mills.
