R'ADYS to introduce fluorine-free outdoor apparel line

R’ADYS, the Swiss technology leader in Outdoor apparel is taking another giant leap into the future with next year’s summer collection. While the eco-debate on fluorine-based water repellent technologies switching from C8 to C6 technologies is on-going. R’ADYS and HeiQ, a Swiss textile effects technology leader, have gone further – fluorine-free!

The 2014 collection will see the entire shell product range from outer layer to wind stopper engineered with Barrier ECO, a bluesign approved fluorine-free technology without equal. BARRIER features durable water repellency (DWR) and superb abrasion resistance.

R’ADYS and HeiQ realize that consumers today care about the environmental profile of technologies used on their garments. An incremental shift from fluorine C8 to the lesser evil of a C6 was therefore never an option for R’ADYS’s CEO Adrian Ruhstaller. Instead, both companies accepted the challenge to go totally fluorine-free. HeiQ’s dedication and know-how as well as its open-minded global mill partners made it possible to switch the entire collection 2014 to this innovative, bluesign approved DWR technology.

R’ADYS is now uniquely placed as the first outdoor brand in the world to have successfully switched to a more sustainable fluorine-free DWR technology on its entire collection manufactured with the innovative R’SONIC laser and adhesives technology.

With this achievement R’ADYS keeps its position as the global innovation leader in outdoor apparel. Clean design, bonding technology mainly, attention to detail and the perfect combination of latest technology and high-performance materials together create the recipe for success for this ascendant Swiss brand.

“When R’ADYS approached us with their decision to go totally fluorine-free in such a short timeline HeiQ accepted the challenge to make it happen. The smooth partnership and open information exchange between R’ADYS, HeiQ and its partner mills resulted in what is today the most functional, performing and most sustainable outdoor apparel collection in the world – a must-have for every truehearted outdoor passionate”, says Carlo Centonze, CEO and founder of HeiQ.

“I am deeply in love with nature and deeply in love with our products. When I learned from HeiQ that going fluorine-free without compromising performance is possible the decision was taken in a heartbeat. I was aware that this would be a steep hill to climb and a bold decision to take, but that is exactly R’ADYS’s DNA!” says Adrian Ruhstaller, CEO and founder of R’ADYS.
