The Centre destined to be India’s first ever ‘Knitwear Specialty Training Centre and Textile Testing Lab’ is established in fulfillment of the direction laid under the Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) of Ministry of Textile, Government of India which has mandated ‘Apparel Training & Design Centre’ (ATDC) to train 2,50, 000 candidates till 2017 through 250 centre’s pan-India, with an aim to create a sound ecosystem for labor-intensive apparel sector which is now advancing in high-speed manufacturing, digital merchandising , designing and pattern-engineering, etc.
The investment in infrastructure for ‘skill development’ has led to turning of a new leaf that would facilitate the apparel manufacturing sector with talent pool as this sector is the second highest employment generator for the nation.
In a bid to motivate the apparel factories in India for the adoption of training and implementation of AEPC DISHA, Union Textiles Minister, Dr. K S Rao, distributed the DISHA adoption Certificates to the ‘DISHA Champions’ in presence of Union Textiles Minister. As of now, 320 units have been reached out for the training and implementation under project DISHA.
167 companies have completed the first phase of training and are ready for assessment. The six days training programme/ workshop aimed at the capacity building and greater awareness for the effective implementation of the programme. ‘DISHA Champions’ are the managers of the companies who are chosen from the employee pool which includes professionals from human resource, administration, sourcing and testing departments.
