25 Indian firms partake at Spanish-Indian apparel expo

‘The Great Exhibition of Garments of India’ which concluded in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid of Spain, saw participation of around 25 apparel firms from India.

The fair was held for two days is the city of Barcelona and two days in Madrid, and witnessed participation from leading apparel companies from India. Around 350 buyers which included, wholesalers, importers, distributors, chain stores, designers, agents, and retailers visited the fair.

The expo, organized by the Apparel Export Promotion Council of India (AEPC), with support from the Indian Embassy in Spain, was aimed at providing a unique opportunity to see firsthand the benefits of investing in India, which is one of the world’s major markets. The visitors also got the chance to access the most varied range of clothing and the latest trends of apparel manufacturing in the country.

According to the AEPC, the Indian participation has increased over the years as the Spanish market is promising not only for exports but also for establishing collaborations between firms as well as creating new joint ventures and marketing alliances.

The apparel exports from India for the month of September 2013 grew by 14.95 percent year-on-year and touched US$ 1.1 billion, as per data released by the AEPC.

The AEPC is the official body of apparel exporters in India that provides assistance to Indian exporters as well as importers/international buyers who choose India as their preferred sourcing destination for garments.
