Dara Torres new face of apparel brand Tommie Copper
Nov '13
Tommie Copper, the next evolution in performance apparel, is excited to have Dara Torres join Tommie Copper as an official brand ambassador. The newly formed partnership kicks off with two new television shows aimed at showcasing inspiring stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things with the help of Tommie Copper’s EnergyWear. The new shows begin airing nationally in November.
Dara Torres is one of the most prolific and inspirational Olympians in the world. From 1984 to 2008 she competed in an unprecedented five Olympics earning 12 medals and tying the record for the most decorated US female Olympic swimmer. Following the birth of her daughter, she returned to the Olympic stage at age 41 to win silver and has since gone on to write a NY Times best seller, tour as a motivational speaker, advocate for childhood swimming programs and still find time to be a dedicated full-time mom.
As a woman dedicated to staying fit and active, Dara Torres discovered Tommie Copper while looking for a recovery product that would help her feel better and look good. “None of the exercise apparel companies made a product that looked great while helping with recovery and aches and pains,” explained Dara Torres. “When I tried Tommie Copper I was amazed at how quickly I was recovering and how much better I was feeling overall. I knew then that I had found the company and product I had searched 20 plus years for.”
Torres’ inspiring journey and infectious charisma were exactly what Tommie Copper was looking for when launching its new campaign: I am Tommie Copper. “We could have chosen to focus on the performance and pain relief benefits of our clothing, but Tommie Copper is about much more than that,” says founder Tom Kallish. “With Tommie Copper, we want to inspire your heart, mind and soul as much as we want to help the body. It’s all connected. We’re really about empowering people to live more positive lives and Dara is the perfect representation of this mantra.”
Tommie Copper’s new fall line exemplifies this balance with a focus not just on improved compression products that target aches and pains but in the creation of a new class of exercise apparel for everyday rejuvenating wear. Like all Tommie Copper apparel, high density activated copper is infused into the PRO+Ionic yarns, resulting in a permanently anti-bacterial fabric and a positive ion release that may help to reduce oxidants in the body.
