The domestic sales of children’s clothing in China is set to get a boost as the Government is considering easing its one-child policy.

In 2010, the Chinese infant apparel market touched 34.8 billion yuan, and it is likely to grow at 25-30 percent until 2015, according to the ‘Kids Industry Report 2012-15, released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Semir clothing, which focused on the children’s wear market, both through online and offline promotion, saw its revenue from kidswear growing by 23.2 percent to 895 million yuan, accounting for 33 percent of its total revenue, up 5 percent compared to 2011.

Anta, 361, and Li Ning are now also expected to increase their focus on children’s garment business. In fact, Li Ning Group has already set up a new management team and released a brand logo to enter the field of children’s clothing.

Not to miss the opportunity, international brands like H&M, Zara and Uniqlo have also set up a special area for children or a separate children’s clothing store.

According to experts, the rapid development of kidswear market in China is normal phenomenon of industrial gradient development, after the rapid progress of womenswear market, followed by the rapid growth in menswear business.

Moreover, the replacement cycle of children’s clothing is much higher than adult clothing, which is another driving factor, especially when the per capita income is growing, according to analysts.
