Chinese outdoor wear industry is still in growth phase

The outdoor wear industry in China is still in its growth phase. According to the statistics of the China Outdoor Association, the market size of core outdoor clothing in China increased in 2012 to 13.2 billion yuan.
 
The Chinese outdoor wear industry grew by 20 percent in 2012, whereas it rose by 54 percent in the preceding ten years.
 
However, the number of people purchasing outdoor clothing is still very small, and the Chinese industry can be said to be still in its growth phase.
 
Outdoor clothing differs from daily wear in terms of quality and clothing material. International clothing brands use GORE-TEX (waterproof, breathable, windproof), DuPont (quick-drying function), COOLMAX (breathable humidity) and other materials for making outdoor apparel.
 
But the requirement for such clothing is not high in urban and suburban areas, where they do not face extreme outdoor environments.
 
However, Chinese domestic outdoor brands are currently at an advantage as they are low-priced compared to foreign brands, and they are more acceptable as they are more suitable for everyday wear.
