Apr '14
More than 90 designers presented their latest spring summer 2014 (S/S’14) collections at the recently held tenth edition of the Colombian Caribbean fashion event Plataforma K, in the northern Colombian city of Barranquilla.

According to a statement issued by Chamber of Commerce of Barranquilla (CAMARBAQ), the two-day event, organized by CAMARABAQ featured 21 gateways where 90 designers showcased their latest collections for men and women.

Renowned Colombian and Caribbean designers such as Adriana Contreras Alytza, Ana Milena Mutis, Andres Pajon, Beatriz Camacho, Biji, Carolina and Cecilia Mondragon, and Claudia Montoya presented S/S’14 collections for women, whereas Brinca, Jon Sonen, Juan and Julian Ruiz showcased S/S’14 collections for men.

According to CAMARABAQ, the two-day event is estimated to have generated business transactions worth 10.2 billion Colombian pesos (approx. US$ 5.2 million), with 132 domestic and international buyers that attended the show.

Around 33 buyers from 12 countries, including South Korea, Japan and the UAE, participated in the show, under the aegis of the Colombian agency for promotion of exports (PROEXPORT Colombia).

The tenth edition of Plataforma K also featured several business conferences with the domestic as well as international buyers, and also included a special space dedicated to the new feature—Pop Up store, which was introduced last year. The Pop Up store is a space where visitors could closely examine the participating designers’ creations.
