India’s Snapdeal acquires fashion discovery site Doozton

India’s largest online marketplace Snapdeal.com, has acquired the assets of online product discovery technology platform for fashion and lifestyle goods, Doozton.com, for an undisclosed amount, reports the Economic Times.

Doozton.com is Snapdeal’s third acquisition overall, and its first since it acquired Shopo.in, an online marketplace for handicraft products, during May last year for an undisclosed amount. Prior to the Shopo.in acquisition, Snapdeal acquired assets of online sports goods seller Esportbuy.com in 2012.

Rohit Bansal, co-founder and chief operating officer (COO) of Snapdeal, said that within a short span of time, since its inception, Doozton.com has managed to earn popularity amongst its users, making shopping easy, fun and social, with the best of fashion and lifestyle product suggestions, including clothing for men and women.

The technology built by Doozton will enable an artful and personalized way of listing and suggesting fashion merchandise on Snapdeal, making the acquisition fruitful for buyers and sellers on the platform, he added.

Pushpendra Singh, founder of Doozton.com, said that the website has managed to carve a special place for itself as a fashion and lifestyle products discovery portal amongst its customers, and with the Snapdeal buy-out, the technology of Doozton.com will get a wider and more established platform.

Doozton.com offers online wardrobe suggestions, what to wear and what to buy for occasions such as for a date, for a wedding, among others. It also includes home decor and gifting products curated from the best of online stores across India.
