Cosabella unveils iconic lingerie line 'Renaissance Woman'

May '14
Characterized by an era celebrated as the peak of Italian art, culture and fashion, Cosabella presents Renaissance Woman. The Fall 2014 collection is inspired by the seductive opulence and grandiose fashions in the capital cities of 15th century Italy.

A period unmistakably overcome by lavish accessories, velvets, brocades, vibrant hues and the finest of lace, the silhouettes are enticing form fitting designs made to accentuate the curves of the Renaissance Woman.

The iconic bustiers of Trenta, Roma, Ravello and Venezia, a key shape for the season, define the waist, drawing eyes onto her much sought-after hourglass figure. Metallic patterns are paramount, achieved by the meticulous craftmanship of gold and copper thread and finishing in Never Say Never, Vicenza and Amalfi.

Soft lustrous satin, inspired by the shimmering moonlit waters of the Mediterranean, are paired with rich lace in Positano. A breathtaking visual experience, her torso, elongated by the sharply cut tuxedo contrast of microfiber and lace in the Trenta bodysuit embodies the romanticism of female beauty in this time.

Exemplifying 15th century Italian artisanship, Italia’s delicate applique illusion is the fruit of textile innovation 600 years in the making. From the velvety flock of Venezia to the intricate cut out effect of Roma’s guipure lace motif the fabrics of this collection take on the elegance of Renaissance royalty.

The candles that lit the halls of the grand palazzi and the perfumes of the Adriatic spice trade inspire Cosabella’s first signature candles and scents of Bright Grenadine and Black Orchid.Rich jewel tones of Gemstone, Emerald Green, Bright Grenadine and Zaffiro represent an influx of precious stones into Europe during this time. Traditional prints make an entrance with abstract patterns of Parma and Sanremo.

Trenta Ombre, an ode to Caravaggio, is a fine lace dip dyed for an antique chiaroscuro effect that would please the great master painter. With groups appropriately named after some of the most beautiful cities in Italy, Cosabella takes you on a journey through the revival of its home; the birthplace of the Renaissance Woman.
