Cintas rental facility earns VPP Star Certification

May '14
Cintas Corporation announced that its rental facility in Providence, RI has received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). VPP is OSHA’s highest recognition for the practice of and commitment to exemplary occupational safety and health and “Star” is its highest distinction.

“We are extremely proud of our Rhode Island rental employee-partners and their managers for earning the prestigious OSHA VPP Star Award” stated Dan Braun, Sr. Vice President Value Improvements Initiatives, Cintas. “We are also very proud of all of our Cintas VPP sites throughout the nation, and those currently on the path to gaining this distinction.”

The Cintas Providence rental facility first began its journey toward VPP designation in 2009, nearly five years ago.  It is now the 22nd Cintas facility under federal OSHA jurisdiction to receive VPP designation. The designation required strict and rigorous audits and close collaboration between management and employee-partners to achieve full engagement to continuous safety improvement.

This work has led the Cintas team in Providence to becoming the fifthcompany in all of Rhode Island to earn an OSHA VPP Star.  As an OSHA VPP Star site, the Cintas Providence rental location is among the safest organizations in Rhode Island, New England and the United States.

“Earning this designation required the engagement of all partners at all levels, making the collaboration a critical part of our journey,” added Andrew Careau, Cintas General Manager of Providence. “We also clearly understand that as an OSHA VPP Star site, we have the responsibility of being ambassadors for OSHA VPP. Our goal is to not only sustain and improve our safety and health programs, but to become ambassadors of this safety initiative.”

Cintas Corporation has approximately 330 facilities throughout the world actively pursuing VPP recognition by OSHA or the equivalent under a similar certifying body. This includes operations in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Honduras.
