Apparel brand Free People to open New York's 10th store

Specialty clothing brand, Free People, is set to open at The Westchester in White Plains, NY on June 13th, 2014. The new boutique will be the company’s 95th store, and the 10th in New York State. Free People’s iconic bohemian apparel and accessories will be housed within a 2,555 square foot retail space where White Plains residents will have the opportunity to shop an assortment specially curated for them.

"We are delighted to bring Free People to Westchester County," says Beth Wehagen, Free People Director of Retail. "As a destination retail location and home to some of the most fashionable and well-known retailers, The Westchester makes a great backdrop for our newest boutique.”

At opening, The Westchester Free People boutique will carry a wide assortment of high summer must-haves. The local market offers Free People an opportunity to carry specialty high-end pieces such as leather jackets and handbags with hand-touched details which are not frequently offered in-store.

In apparel and accessories, the brand will stay true to its carefree feel in presenting a modern bohemian aesthetic with a mixture of tomboy cool and feminine sheer details. Color, print, embroidery, and embellishment will be prominent across an assortment of printed dresses, rompers, easy knits, denim, skirts, and shorts. To round out Free People wardrobes, the location will also house the brand’s Intimately Free People line of bras, undies, slips, seamless layering pieces, and loungewear.

The boutique is designed to feel like a Free People girl’s workshop. Customers will be welcomed through a custom steel storefront featuring natural brick pavers and doors with handmade hardware. Materials such as natural rough sawn white wood, wide plank wood floors, white bead board walls, and blackened steel elements create a rustic feel throughout.

Feminine touches of glitter plaster walls, patchwork curtains, and twinkle lights balance out the tougher materials. Seven fitting rooms are housed in the space, and vibrant color is featured behind the cash wrap with a wooden crate and yarn installation.

Each Free People store offers personalized shopping experiences from a team of expert stylists. Customers can schedule a one-on-one appointment with their favorite stylist, as well as interact and gain inspiration through the brand’s online Style Community, FP Me. In addition to offering personal styling, fans can lookforward to a variety of in-store events to be hosted at the Free People White Plains boutique throughout the year.
