Steven B. Tanger, President & CEO of Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc., has been named an EY Entrepreneur of the Year in the Hospitality and Retail category for the Southeast Region, which includes Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Mr. Tanger was selected by an independent panel of judges made up of previous award recipients, leading CEOs and other regional business leaders. The EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 Awards for the Southeast were presented at a gala event at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, GA, on June 26.

"The entrepreneurial spirit has been an integral part of our company's DNA ever since my father, Stanly K. Tanger, opened the first ever outlet center over 32 years ago," said Mr. Tanger. "With that spirit at the forefront of our strategy, we now have a portfolio of 44 upscale outlet shopping centers in the U.S. and Canada and have created over 44,000 jobs in the communities that we serve. All of us at Tanger Outlets are honored by this recognition and will strive to always foster a spirit of innovation as we continue to grow our business."

As a regional award recipient, Mr. Tanger is now eligible for consideration for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 National Award.
