Retailing in India is one of the pillars of its economy and accounts for 14 to 15 percent of its GDP. The Indian retail market is estimated to be US 500 billion dollars and one of the top five retail markets in the world by economic value. With the apparel industry booming and set for a further incline in India, companies need to realize their Supply Chain ambitions. Companies require a provider that would give them a solution to on time and dust and wrinkle free “Just in Shop” delivery of products.

Keeping that in mind, APM Terminals Inland Services South Asia introduces GOH services in India. Amidst various solutions, Garment on Hanger (GoH) service benefits retail companies in terms of time, labour and money. Garment on Hanger (GoH) containers are standard/dry containers that are converted/outfitted to be able to safely and conveniently carry garments on hangers – the same way one sees them hanging in all the major retail stores.

APM Terminals Inland Services designed a complete cross docking solution for handling garments
-Development of a dedicated and customized warehouse (insulated with Polyethylene films) infrastructure inside the CFS for facilitating dust free environment for cross docking Garment on Hanger type of requirements and packing.
-Specialized mobile rails having wheels. While stuffing the container, these mobile rails can be directly loaded inside the container for sorting the GOH inside the warehouse.

Benefits
-Enables easy sorting of garments in a dust free environment
-Direct placement of mobile railings inside the container leads to reduction in the frequency of garment handling for wrinkle free delivery to end customers
-Reduced time for stuffing the containers
-Cost savings on account of reduced dependency on labour
-Reduced rejection rates due to better infrastructure and high quality control standards
-Improved Turn Around Time

Value Addition by APMT IS SA
-The fashion segment as a whole would account nearly 60 per cent of the total retail sector.
-According to a Technopak Indian Textile & Apparel Compendium 2010, the total textile and apparel industry (domestic + exports) is estimated to grow at 11 per cent CAGR to reach Rs 10,32,000 crores by 2020.

With such significant estimates for the fashion retail industry, customized solutions/Goh become significant.  Partnership with APM’s customers is the driving force behind APM’s mutual success and the ultimate satisfaction for more than __ (X number of clients) utilizing Garment on Hanger (GoH) service.
